The Marietta Journal March 12, 1896
LOST MOUNTAIN

Mrs A E McELREATH, relict of John McELREATH, died here March 2d, aged
seventy-seven years.  She with her husband moved to Lost Mountain in 1844. 
Joined the Methodist church in the year 1858 and lived a member until death. 
Her husband died May 18th, 1894.  She was a woman of many strong traits of
character, noted for industry and perseverance in all she did, clothed her
family by her labor at the spinning wheel and the old fashioned hand loom. 
During the war she spun and wove clothing and sent to a son who served in the
Confederate army in Virginia.  She had been in feeble health for several years
and the end came in great peace.  The funeral was conducted by Rev F W McCLESKY,
Monday at Midway, where she was laid to rest in Midway grave yard.  We tender
our deepest sympathy to the bereaved family.

Messrs Mid WILLIAMS and Charlie MAYES, who are attending school at Bremen, made
a flying trip home Saturday, returning Monday.

Misses Tiny and Laura TIPPINS of Acworth are visiting their cousin here, Miss
Lizzie KEMP.

Messrs W M and R H BARNES and S F MAYES went to Atlanta Monday to do some trading.

Master Freddie WARD, of Bremen, is visiting his grand parents here.

Some one tried to break into Mr CURTIS' house last Sunday night.  He gave an
alarm for help and the party was frightened off, but not captured.

An oyster supper was given at the home of Mr N E WILLIAMS last Saturday evening.
