It was settled soon after the removal of the Cherokee Indians by HENRY MITCHELL, probably in the early forties. Here he raised a family of boys and girls, and passed away. Dr POOL, of Douglasville, owned the place, and on it stood the chimney to the old MITCHELL house, long ago gone to decay. A neighbor having use for the material in the old chimney, purchased it from Dr POOL, and in tearing it down found hidden $1,000 in bright gold pieces, probably placed there years ago by MITCHELL. Whose money is it? The MITCHELL heirs can't prove that their father placed it there. Can Dr POOL who sold the chimney claim it, or will the purchaser of the chimney get it? - Atlanta Constitution Additional Comments: from the Marietta Matters section of The Marietta Journal dated Thursday, June 11, 1891 File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ga/cobb/newspapers/oldhenry177nnw.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/gafiles/ File size: 1.5 Kb
