He was born a little over 67 years ago and had made his home in Cobb the greater part of his life. He was a gallant Confederate soldier and was ever loyal to his color. Many of his old comrades attended his funeral and paid him beautiful tributes. He was married to Miss Lou RAGSDALE of Cobb, and with one daughter, Mrs Garnett HARDAGE, survive him, and two sisters Mrs Sarah STOVALL of this place, Mrs C N BARRETT of Marietta and many other relatives and friends. He was a good and kind husband and father, a generous neighbor, and a good friend to the needy. The funeral services were conducted at the home Friday morning by Rev J M SPINKS. Mrs Eula WILLIAMS of Acworth is visiting Mr and Mrs Uriah MATTHEWS. Mrs Ada BULLARD and two children of Birmingham, Ala., have been visiting her sisters, Mrs Homer LEWIS and Mrs Carrie COTTEN. Dr W A SELMAN of Atlanta and Mr J V SELMAN of Chattanooga, Tenn., visited their mother, Mrs J W SELMAN, Sunday. Mr O A STEWART, after spending four months vacation with his mother Mrs E E STEWART, has reenlisted in the United States Navy and left for New London, Conn., Wednesday, to join the U S S Olympia on her summer cruise. Mr Roy TAPP spent last week with relatives in Douglasville. Mrs Mitchell LINDLEY and children recently visited her parents in Douglasville. Mr and Mrs J E McKENNEY and Earle McKENNEY and Mrs E E STEWART spent the week end in Acworth. Mrs Jack LUNSFORD and daughter, Miss Effie, of Acworth are visiting relatives here. Miss Martha DUNCAN of Atlanta is visiting her aunt, Miss Martha HUNTER. Mrs W J TAPP is spending this (sic) with her mother Mrs E R BATE. Misses Neva SELMAN and Ella HUNTER are elected teachers of the public school at this place. Miss Neva is attending the summer normal college at Athens.
