The famous belled buzzard was seen near here last week feasting upon the carcass of a hog. Mr William HILL Jr heard the bell a half a mile away and thought that cows were in his crop and went to investigate. He was completely non-plused when he found no cows and no signs where any had been. He went back to the house and in a short time was more astounded to hear the bell again in the direction of his corn field. He went back to the field quietly and found the old buzzard tugging away at a dead hog, making as much noise as an old belled cow. Tuesday morning a little daughter of Mr James ALLEY while playing about Florence's mill on Sweetwater got caught in the running gear of the mill and narrowly escaped being killed. One leg was broken and her body was otherwise frightfully bruised. She was doing very well when last heard from. Candidate AWTREY from Acworth was down to see us last week, shaking hands with an unusually hard grip. He made quite a good impression. Dr COOPER from Fort Worth, Texas, spent a few days last week with his aunt, Mrs Lizzie COOPER, near here. Mrs Dr Chas A BUTNER of Jackson and her little son, Master Harry, are visiting the family of Mr J C BUTNER this week. A Mr MATHIS from Newnan is here visiting his aunt, Mrs J B BENNETT. Don't forget the picnic next Saturday at this place. The boys say for everybody to come. Rev Mr SMITH and family are here visiting his brother-in-law, Rev Mr WINTER. Mr SMITH is an evangelist and came from Eastman to this place. - SCIRE FACIAS File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ga/cobb/newspapers/powdersp389nnw.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/gafiles/ File size: 2.2 Kb
