Aldermen: 1st Ward, T J PARKER and J W HUGHES; 2nd Ward, W C WHATLEY and J M PENDLAND; 3rd Ward, H R DERMONT and W H FALKNER. The town academy has been recovered and other necessary repairs done. J A GARRISON and W G BLANKENSHIP have both made satisfactory arrangements with their creditors and reopened their stores. CAIN, LYON, and LOVE's store is still locked up by the Sheriff. We hope they will soon be as fortunate. On the night of the 10th, D P MORRIS' dwelling was burned between 12 and 1 o'clock. His land papers and twenty dollars in money were burned with nearly everything in the house. It was raining and his barn was saved. Col E FAW, of Marietta, attended the Presbyterian church here Sunday. Rev F M FOWLER, pastor of the Methodist Church, occupies two story dwelling on Church street. J G DRAKE is building a large blacksmith and wagon shop on the corner near the store of S CROWLEY & Son. Mrs J B WATSON is visiting her daughter, Mrs W E SCRUGGS, in West Point, Ga. The Young Men's Christian Endeavor meets every Sunday night at the Presbyterian church.
