Marietta Journal July 9, 1908
From the Marietta Journal dated Thursday, July 9 1908:

SARDIS

We had a fine singing at Sardis Sunday afternoon by Prof LINDSAY of Marietta. 
We have the best choir in the country.

Died - Mrs Martha HANEY died on Saturday morning June 27th at the home of her
nephew, Mr Berry McCORD.  She was 72 years old, a member of Sardis Church and
served her Master faithfully.  Her funeral was conducted by Rev Wm McCOLLUM. 
Interment at Mt Bethel.  

Rev W E McCOLLUM will preach here Saturday and Sunday.

Mr and Mrs Harvie BARFIELD visited her mother, Mrs Sarah BLACK, Sunday.

Mr Thomas BLACK of near Bold Springs visited his cousin, Mr Lee BLACK Sunday.

Mrs Kate ALEXANDER and mother Mrs M L ADERHOLD spent Sunday as guests of Mr J D
FULLER and wife.
