Mr Charles LOVE, who has been engaged for the past several months in business on the "canal zone," Panama, is home again. "Blew" in Saturday evening. The Isthumus seems to agree with him. He is looking well. The Caldwell-Lumpkin Fourth of July Club - composed of the following families: Mr and Mrs J W CALDWELL, Mr and Mrs J F LUMPKIN and family, Mr and Mrs J N CAMP and family, Mr and Mrs A W SUTTLES and Mr W S THOMPSON - enjoyed their annual fourth of July outing and fishing at Barber's bridge last Saturday. This club was organized four years ago, and since that time has regularly held its annual picnic on the 4th. The officers elected for this year are A W SUTTLES, president; Mr J N CAMP, secretary and treasurrer. Our invited guests this year were Mrs Dr W T PACE and daughters, Helen and Laura, Mr Harold HAWKINS and Master J B FULLER. In all, about twenty composed the merry party. Notwitstanding the threatening weather, the day was most pleasantly spent. Smyrna and Marietta expected to play ball here last Saturday, but the rain of that afternoon broke up the game, and drenched the large gathering to witness the same. The game would have been hotly contested had not the rain interfered. Mr Willis T LONG and son, Nathaniel, of Pendergrass spent Sunday and Monday with friends and relatives in Smyrna. The actual construction of Hamby's brick store and warehouse began last Thursday. It will be the largest brick building in town when completed. Rev Mr CRAWLEY occupied the pulpit of the Methodist church last Sunday, it being the first Sunday in the month, and his regular appointment here. Smyrna School Board had a meeting last Monday night, and elected Prof D A SEWELL as principal of Smyrna High School for next school year, also added another grade to the school - the Second Grade High School. The assistant teachers have not yet been selected. -Critic File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ga/cobb/newspapers/smyrnaco2429gnw.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/gafiles/ File size: 2.7 Kb
