DIED - Last Tuesday night as the hands of the clock indicated the hour of midnight, the immortal spirit of Thomas C Lawlor winged its flight to the realms of Eternal bliss. Mr Lawlor had been sick for eight or ten weeks with a malady which baffled the skill of the physicians, and which finally claimed him for a victim, notwithstanding everything was done by loving hands to stay the ravages of the disease. Mr Lawlor leaves a wife, two daughters and one son, and a host of friends to mourn his loss. Rev C T A Pise conducted the funeral services, and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery at this place by the Odd Fellows. Mr Lawlor having been a member of Nickajack Lodge No. 89, I O O F, and the first member buried by that lodge in over 14 years. He sleeps the sleep that knows no waking. "Peace to his ashes." Mrs W T Pace and little daughter, Helen, visited relatives in Woodstock last week. The Ladies Aid Society of the Methodist Church added a neat little sum to their treasury by serving hot lunches on election day. Mr Virgil Fleming is in town shaking hands with his many friends. It is rumored that Virgil makes this visit to Smyrna for the purpose of taking unto himself a wife. Mrs T C Lawlor requests me to extend her sincere thanks to the people of this community, and especially to the Odd Fellows, for the attention and kindness shown herself and family during the recent illness and death of her husband. DIED - Last Saturday morning the immortal spirit of Mrs F B Lester winged its flight to the great white throne of the God who gave it. The funeral services were conducted from the Methodist Church by Rev Mr McCoy and Rev Mr Morgan on Sunday. Interment in Smyrna cemetery.
