Mrs A J Reeves, who has been sick with grippe for several days, is somewhat improved. The Oakland school is now equipped with new patent desks, which greatly improve the appearance of the school room. KIRK'S CHAPEL Mr Cliff Burton of Atlanta visited homefolks Sunday. The singing given at Mr N E Williams' last Sunday was enjoyed by all present. Miss W E Hardage is improving, after several weeks' illness. Mr J N Johnson and family of this place have moved near Lost Mountain. Mr Lucious Hardage has about got his barn completed. - Uncle Simon SMYRNA Miss Mary Joe Reed is visiting relatives at this place. Mr L D Gulley, a prominent citizen of North Carolina, visited Smyrna last week, the guest of his son, Mr Louis Gulley. Miss Mary Fleming leaves for several days visit to friends in Valdosta this week. Mr Bob Fleming and bride are stopping with Mrs Mattie Lawlar. Bob is as happy as a school boy when vacation day arrives, and wears a smile limited to the distance of his ears. Mr John Hudgins of Moorsville, Mo., one of the pioneers of the days of '49 when the California gold fever struck the country, is visiting his son, Mr H C Hudgins at Ellerslie Farm.
