The Marietta Journal June 17, 1897
UPSHAW

Rev J W QUILLIAN of Marietta preached an able sermon here last Sunday afternoon
to a large and attentive congregation.  He is one of the grandest men we ever
heard preach.  We would be glad to have him with us again.

The children's day service held here last Sunday was a success.  There was a
very large crowd present.  The children all did well in their songs and
recitations.   Superintendent C M HEAD and wife are doing some earnest work in
the Sunday school.

A number of our friends from Marietta attended services here last Sunday.

Mrs Fannie BROWN of Douglasville is spending a few days with her sister, Mrs
Sarah WILLOUGHBY, of this place.

Rev A G SHANKLE preached an excellent sermon last Saturday.

Miss Lizzie McEACHERN of Atlanta is visiting the family of Mr D D BABB.  We
regret to note the illness of Mr J W PETTY.  We hope he may soon recover.
