Marietta Journal March 1, 1906
From the Marietta Journal dated Thursday, March 1 1906:

WILEYS

Mr Martin SHEFFIELD and family, of Monroe county, Ark., arrived in our section a
few days ago.  They decided to try old Cobb awhile for their health.  They are
related to Mrs L F FORTNER of our community.  They are living at the Martin
place, about 5 miles south of Marietta.

Mr Franklin FORTNER, who went to Ensley, Ala., about the first of January,
returned home last week.

We are glad to note that Mrs Amanda SEWELL of New Hope who has been sick for
quite a while is convalescent.

Mr N A BREWER happened to a painful accident a few days ago.  While working on a
scaffold, it collapsed and he fell a distance of several feet, bruising his left
arm considerably and receiving a severe shaking-up.  We hope his injuries are
not serious however, and that he will soon be recovered.

Mr B J HAMBY says he is further along with his work this spring than he has
been, at this time of the year, for 20 years.  He has all of his corn land ready
for planting.  In fact all of the farmers have a great deal more work done than
they had this time last year.  The proper thing, however, is to get a good start
and keep hustling till the crop is made and then rest under the shade of the trees.
