Mrs HAMBY had been in feeble health for some time until a few weeks ago when she was stricken with paralysis from which she never recovered. She had been a member of the Primitive Baptist Church for about fifty years. She was a Christian woman, a good wife and a loving mother. She leaves a husband and three children, six brothers and four sisters and a host of friends to mourn her departure. Mrs HAMBY had lived to a ripe old age, being seventy-five years old. The funeral was conducted at Maloney Springs Church, this county, by Rev A J McCAY. Her six nephews were the pallbearers - Mr Carl HAMBY, Mr Allie DANIELL, Mr Robert DANIELL, Mr Hugh HAMBY, Mr Oren DANIELL and Mr Kaite DANIELL. The bereaved family and relatives have our sympathy. Quite a large crowd gathered at the residence of Mr Oliver BARFIELD one night last week and enjoyed themselves in an old-time dance, but sorry to say that some of the young men put spurm candles on the floor which caused several to fall down, some getting hurt pretty badly. The farmers in this section were very busy last week digging their potatoes and banking them for winter. Also gathering corn and sowing oats. In fact, now is a busy time with the farmers. Remember, next Sunday afternoon is the regular singing at Olive Springs. We are expecting a good singing at that time, as several good singers have promised to be there. Come and bring your song books and let us have a nice time with our visiting singers. The patrons of Olive Springs school will remember that Prof MITCHELL will be on hand to take charge of the school at that place next Monday, the 15th. Send your children at the commencement of the school if possible. The meeting of the Literary Society at Olive Springs was largely attended last Saturday night and a good program was rendered. It has been said by some that the society at that place was almost dead, but if you want to see lively club, just come out and you will see that it lacks a great deal of being dead. The young people are taking a great interest in the society and will keep it up during the winter. They have a good program for the next meeting night which is the 27th. So, if you want to be in a good society, come out and join Olive Springs Literary Society. The society has been going on at that place for several years and is likely to go on several years yet. At a business meeting of Olive Springs church last Sunday, Rev George CROW was called to take charge of that church for the ensuing year. Mr CROW is a young preacher and this is his first call. We hope he may have good success in winning souls to Christ. - Beulah File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ga/cobb/newspapers/wileysco405nnw.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/gafiles/ File size: 3.5 Kb
