The body of the trees were white and blossoms pink. Capt W R Joyner has taken up his entire orchard of peach trees, near Wiley's Gin, that were infected by the San Jose scale. Mrs Emma Garner of Atlanta spent a few days with her mother, Mrs Martha Ann Thomas, last week. L D Day, who lives south of here, has had the misfortune to lose four calves this spring from some unknown cause. Jim Thomas has added a new room to his house, which is occupied by Ed Gann. Will S Cox is in the lead in this section. He has planted about two acres of corn, has Irish potatoes coming up and a good stand of other garden vegetables. The farmers are beginning to feel blue about not getting to plant their crops. But never mind there will be time enough to make a crop yet. When the weather clears, get up early and work late and hard and you will make a good crop. The candidates had better grow in a hurry as they will be laid by the 20th of April. Little Jennie Lou Hamby, daughter of Mrs D C Hamby, who has been confined to her bed with pneumonia, is no better. MARRIED - On March 22nd, Mr Foster Frey, of Atlanta, to a young lady in Tennessee. He is a grandson of S G Frey of Marietta.
