During the past ten years Mr Henry BAKER has held a confidential and important position with the Porter Manufacturing Co., and during this long term of service, by his faithful, conscientious and efficient performance of the duties of his position, he rendered himself of much value to the Company and won the high regard of his official superiors, and by his uniform kind consideration for those with whom he come in contact in the line of duty, or socially, he gained their confidence and esteem, as was most clearly evidenced by the large concourse of operatives of the mills and of his neighbors who assembled to pay a last tribute of respect to their coworkers and friends. Mr BAKER leaves a devoted wife and two little daughters, each of whom did all in their power by him during his long illness. He also leaves to mourn his loss, father, mother, brothers and sisters. For a number of years Mr BAKER was a consistent member of the Presbyterian church. During the past two months he has daily, with full knowledge of the fact, looked death in the face, yet he never uttered a complaint, but was cheerful to the last. He met death, not as a fatalist; not as an agnostic, but as a christian; relying upon "Him who alone is able to save to the uttermost." As an official, Mr BAKER was reliable and efficient; as a husband and father, a model of devotion and affection; as a friend true and trustworthy and as a christian, "faithful unto the end."
