T. Baker, Sr. Inexpressively sad and touching were the last days of our loved one, Mrs. Dan T. Baker, Sr., who, abandoning the hope of recovery, resigned herself into the keeping of her Saviour whom she loved so well, and passed into the great beyond. A great and heroic soul was released from the intense, constant and prolonged agonies of an incurable malady, and when she knew that only constant suffering remained between she and the end of earth, she could say, with as much assurance as any apostle or martyr “I know that my Redeemer liveth,” and this faith carried her triumphantly through the inevitable ordeal. As goes down the stately ship in a quiet sea, after the storm is over, but scarred on the surface and broken by the fury of the flood, wrecked in mid- ocean she sinks beneath the waves. Although her frame is gone down, her strong and faithful heart outlasted the tempest, and she carried into eternity the well preserved freight of love and happiness and the flying white sail of a great and noble name. We feel that we have been bereft of one of our strongest Epworth League members, one who was always faithful, loving generous and God-fearing; one who had pointed out the Christ in the example of her own life more than the words that fell from her lips. A life brilliantly burning with a living faith in God and a love for humanity endeared her to us so strongly. A tie just a little stronger now binds us to heaven, and we can say in all humility that we thank God for leading this beautiful life and character to us even though for a brief space of time.
