Mr BATE went to Colorado three years ago to recuperate his health and returned home about a year and nine months ago and sold his jewelry business here and moved with his family to Kerrville, Texas, where he resided one year and then moved to San Antonio where he and family bought a home and have resided there since. Mr BATE had lung trouble, and for a while he was benefitted by removal west but the insidious disease finally resulted in his death. Mr BATE leaves a wife and seven children, four girls and three boys. Mr BATE was born and raised in Acworth, where he as a merchant succeeded admirably. Moving to Marietta he opened a jewelry store and made money rapidly. At the time of his death he was worth considerable property, owning valuable real estate in Marietta. He leaves an insurance of $30,000. He married the daughter of Rev Elam CHRISTIAN, of this place. Mr BATE was a member of the Methodist church and at the time he went West was Alderman of the city. He was safe, conservative, business man, quiet in demeanor and upright in life. The many friends of the deceased sympathise with the family in their bereavement.
