The funeral services took place October 18th, at Kennesaw, conducted by Rev H L EDMONDSON, of Thompson, Ga., assisted by her pastor, Rev O L KELLY, of Acworth. The floral offerings were many and very handsome. Mrs BENNETT had been a consistent member of the Methodist Church for 23 years. She was the daughter of Philip and Jane CHALKER of Cobb county and is survived by her mother, one brother, Taylor CHALKER; and five sisters, Mrs J A SKELTON, Mrs J F BRINKLEY, Mrs J P GRESHAM, all of Kennesaw; Mrs C H ROBERTS of Atlanta; Mrs Thomas WOODWARD of Lavender, Ga.; her husband, J W BENNETT; one son, J W BENNETT Jr of Anniston, Ala.; one daughter, Mrs J H WILLIAMS of Cedartown, and one grandson. She was an invalid for many years, and bore her sufferings with Christian fortitude. Like the wise virgin, she kept her lamp trimmed and burning, and when, in the still hours of the October night, the bridegroom perched at the portals of her soul and called, "my daughter, come," she answered, "I am ready," and gently passed over the river into the ever lasting rest that remaineth for the children of God. Mrs BENNETT was of a modest, gentle disposition, not given to speaking evil of any one. Asleep in Jesus, oh, how sweet. To be for such a slumber meet. With holy confidence to sing That Death had lost its venom sting.
