He was 75 years and one day of age. Mr BLACK was one of Marietta's most prominent business men and had conducted a sash and door factory and lumber business and building contractor in the city for nearly forty years. He came here before the war, married here and raised a family. His life has been one of uprightness and industry. He has always thrown his influence on the side of morailty, (sic) sobriety and religion, seeking to advance every good cause. He was in former years a steward in the Methodist church, and at the time of his death was a Trustee of that church. His death is deeply regretted by our people. He leaves a wife, three sons and one daughter - Messrs Joe J BLACK, W Jordan BLACK, and Tennent BLACK, and Mrs George GRIFFIN and other relatives. His funeral was held at the Methodist church on Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock, conducted by his pastor, Rev Fletcher WALTON, assisted by Rev S B LEDBETTER and Rev V E MANGET. He was a prominent Mason and was buried with the honors of that order. His remains rest in the city cemetery. Our sympathy is extended to the bereaved family.
