The Marietta Journal, Thursday, April 18, 1889
Mr J G BRUMBY died at his late home in this place on last Monday morning.  If he
had lived until the 10th of next month he would have been 82 years of age.  The
deceased had been married three times.  His surviving children, Mr James R
BRUMBY and Mr Thomas M BRUMBY and several married daughters are of the first
marriage.  His third wife, Mrs C C BRUMBY, survives him and has several
children.  Mr J G BRUMBY was one of Marietta's oldest and most esteemed
citizens.  He was a consistent member of the Methodist church and served his day
and generation well.  His funeral took place Tuesday, Rev P M RYBURN and Rev V E
MANGET officiating.  He was buried with Masonic honors.
