Rev. Thornton Burke died at his home near Powder Springs camp ground in Cobp (sic) 
county, on the 6th instant, in his 93 year. He was born in Elbert county, Ga., in 
1794, and was ordained as a Baptist preacher in 1833. He had been a faithful 
preacher for 54 years, and died in the full triumph of Christian faith.
