The Marietta Journal, Thursday, April 18, 1889
Mr John C CATTELL, of this place, died suddenly on last Monday morning.  He got
up about three o'clock, complaining of a smothering sensation about the heart. 
He said he would take a smoke and see if that wouldn't relieve him.  Not getting
any better, he asked his wife to get a dose of ipecac and he would take it.  His
wife went to prepare the medicine and when she returned she found Mr CATTELL
sitting in a chair dead.  He was advanced in years, and frequently had heart
trouble.  He was father-in-law of Mrs James G HUGHES.  He was a member of the
Grand Army of the Republic and was buried in the National Cemetery on Tuesday
afternoon.
