To him his friends were always the most loyal, their hearts the truest, their hand shake the warmest, their home the brightest and their greeting the pleasantest. For many years he was identified with the drug business here as a member of the firm of Vanstone & Crosby, some thirteen years ago. Charley, much to our regret, was forced to change climate on account of a severe catarrhal trouble and so with a devoted wife and little daughter, he went South, locating at Marietta, Ga., where he soon became identified with the drug business. He prospered because he deserved to and soon became sole proprietor of the business. This grew until he soon had the largest and most prosperous retail drug business in the South. Last October Mr Crosby was taken very ill with double pneumonia, the disease affecting his lungs, ravishing these organs and finally attacking the brain. Though able to be at his place of business nearly every day, Charley failed until death relieved him of his sufferings. The funeral services occurred at Marietta on Wednesday, and the following day the remains were deposited in the family vault at Covington, Ky., alongside those of his little daughter who died soon after leaving Toledo. To the broken-hearted wife in Marietta as well as to the brother and sister in this city, the tenderest sympathy goes out in this hour of deep sorrow. They have the consolation however of knowing that there are hundreds of his old friends here in Toledo who will ever honor his memory and treasure his friendship in the days gone by, for Charlie Crosby was a man after his Maker's type, a true gentleman and a fast friend.
