The Marietta Journal  March 24, 1904
The death of Sarah Esther, the daughter of Mr and Mrs Samuel K DICK, occurred at
the family residence here on last Friday evening about 7 o'clock.  She had been
sick for about ten days with acute intestinal obstruction, the intestine
becoming twisted, consequently it became absolutely necessary to perform a
surgical operation, which was done on Thursday evening by Drs HOLMES, DAVIS and
SUTTON of Atlanta and Dr H V REYNOLDS of Marietta.  The little sufferer rallied
from the shock of the operation and there was slight hopes that she would get
well, but Friday afternoon she began to sink, and about 7 o'clock that evening
her pure sweet spirit went to dwell with the angels.

She was a bright, beautiful child, of sweet loving disposition, and the only
daughter of the devoted parents.  She was seven years old last September.  

The funeral services were held Sunday morning at 11 o'clock at the family
residence.  Rev J H PATTON of the Presbyterian Church officiating.

The interment was in the Episcopal cemetery.

A profusion of beautiful flowers in several pretty designs banked the last
resting place of little Sarah.

She was a pupil of the first primary grade of the public schools and her
teacher, Miss FOY, and the entire grade attended the funeral, each child
carrying flowers as a token of love for their departed school companion, a very
touching scene.

The entire community deeply sympathize with the parents and two brothers in this
sad and deplorable bereavement.
