He had let a colored man have the mule to break for him, and he went after him that afternoon to carry him home. He conclued to ride the young mule home. He was warned not to do so, as the mule was almost unmanageable. He got on the mule saying he could ride him. Almost as soon as he touched the mule's back, the mule began to pitch and rear, and Mr DUNN was thrown over the mule's head, falling to the ground very hard on his head and breaking his neck. He gasped a few times and was dead. He was well known to most of our citizens. He was an honest, industrious man and prospered in a small way. He was an old Confederate soldier and fought bravely through the Virginia campaign during the war. He was a member of the Methodist church and had the respect of all who knew him. Peace to his ashes.
