He was eight (sic) years old some time last autumn. There was no kindlier, gentler or more magnanimous elderly gentleman in all our land than Ben HAMBY. There was none who always had a better word for all, than he. He was chairman of the Board of Education of Cobb County for a number of years, a part of which time I was its secretary. He endeavored always to distinguish between purely individual interests of parties and the interest of the general public. He strove to give exact justice to all, to further education interests and to keep the Board free from wrangles and entanglements. He loved peace and quietude. He delighted in the friendship of good citizens, and coveted the good will of all. His was a quiet farm life; his death an ideal death. Of such citizens good governments are made; by such the churches are sustained; with such it is a delight to meet; and to such a county may point with pride. -Bernard AWTREY File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ga/cobb/obits/h/hamby8235gob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/gafiles/ File size: 1.7 Kb
