Hicks, 50, who died last Saturday afternoon in a private hospital in Atlanta, were held at the Second Baptist church Monday morning at ten o’clock. Rev. I.A. White, assisted by Rev. Tribble and Rev. J.L. Crow, officiated. Interment followed in the city cemetery, with Messrs. Allen Edwards, M.H. Everhart, Robert Lindley, Albert Camp, John Black and J.C. Ward as pallbearers. Mr. Hicks, who was the oldest child of the late Mr. and Mrs. J.S. Hicks, was born in Cobb county and spent most of his life here. For the past 21 years he had been engaged in the retail grocery business in Marietta, serving the city for two terms as councilman from his ward. He was a member of the Second Baptist church and took an active part in church work. He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Miss Regina Hicks, and one son, Mr. Dudley Hicks, of Marietta; three sisters, Mrs. Tom Beasley and Mrs. Ruby Knix [Knox], of Marietta, and Mrs. W.T. Bradley, of Montgomery, Ala., five brothers, Mr. Will Hicks, Mr. J.F. Hicks, Mr. S.C. Hicks and Mr. Joe Hicks, all of Marietta, and Mr. Charlie Hicks, of Montgomery, Ala.
