Hicks passed into its reward. Death came at her home on Powder Springs St. She was a woman with endearing qualities, drawing to herself many friends who love and cherish her memory. Funeral services were held at Milford Baptist church Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Geo. V. Crowe officiating. Interment took place in the church yard cemetery, a large number of sorrowing friends being present. Mrs. Hicks, who was 70 years old, is survived by her husband, eight sons, H.S., W.T., J.N., and O.C. Hicks of Marietta, Geo. M. Hicks of Atlanta, R.A., A.E., and L.F. Hicks of Etowah, Tenn., one daughter, Mrs. Albert Sanders, of Marietta, and one brother, S.P. Gann of Anniston, Ala. Black Undertaking Co. had charge of the funeral arrangement. She married John Henry Hicks in Cobb County on 23 Sept 1869. Her parents are also buried at Milford Church Cemetery. John Henry Hicks was a son of Starling H. and Mary Elizabeth Brockman Hicks.
