He complained of feeling tired Sunday evening and told some of his friends in the hotel lobby that he was going up to his room to sit by the fire and rest. When he did not respond to the call Monday morning his room was entered and his body was found in an upright position as if he had gone to sleep sitting by the fire. Dr T C NOLAN was summoned and pronounced apoplexy the probably cause of death. Colonel JOHNSON was 73 years old, a Confederate veteran, and had been a lawyer of note in this section. He was for a number of years a secretary to Senator Hoke SMITH in Washington, having only recently accepted a position with the Government income tax office in Atlanta, making his home at the Kennesaw House. A son, Malcolm JOHNSON, Jr, of New York City, a daughter, Mrs N W L BROWN of Sumas, Wash., two sisters, Mrs Howard CRUMLEY and Mrs O T WHITE, of Atlanta, survive him. Funeral services were held in Atlanta Wednesday. Interment being in the Oakland cemetery.
