Bro. KEMP was born in South Carolina, March 5, 1838. With his father he moved to Cobb County, Ga., in 1845. Jan 4, 1856, he was married to Miss Mary BROOKS who survives him. Beside his wife he leaves three daughters and four sons viz Mrs J D MITCHELL and Mrs T E McCLESKEY of Alabama, D D KEMP of Spring Place, Ga., E E KEMP of Atlanta, J J, W W and Miss Ola KEMP of Blackwells. Sunday, November 18, the funeral was conducted from the home by Rev W H SMITH, Pastor of Sandy Plains Baptist Church. The interment was at KEMP's Cemetery in the presence of a great congregation of his friends. Brother KEMP had lived long and well. His friends were not those of his own age only but the young people and the children were his friends because he was their friend. Such citizens are the strength of state, nation and church. Best of all Bro. KEMP was a Christian. He joined the church at the age of 21 years. He loved his own church best yet the love of Christ in him carried his realm of fellowship far beyond the boundaries of his own denomination. He sought the company of those who knew Christ. We shall see him again where sad partings come no more. - W W GAINES File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ga/cobb/obits/k/kemp1240nob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/gafiles/ File size: 1.9 Kb
