Funeral Services For Acworthan Are Held on Wednesday

Funeral services for H W Kitchens, 82, prominent Acworth citizen who died in
Atlanta Monday, were held Wednesday afternoon at the Acworth Baptist church with
Rev J G Collum officiating.  Rev Guy Atkinson and Rev L A White assisted him.

Mr Kitchens came to Acworth when a young man and had a successful business
career.  He was an outstanding member of the King Hardware Company of Atlanta
and former traveling representative of this organization.  He was also connected
with the firm of Kitchens and Williams Hardware company in Acworth for a number
of years.

He is survived by his wife; seven daughters, Mrs Walter Nichols, Mrs Ella
Gribble, Mrs H B Terry, Mrs Nellie Mae Nichols of Acworth, Mrs W D Chastain of
Atlanta, Mrs R H Green of Covington, Mrs James Rainey of Walterborough SC; and
two sons, Norman Kitchens of Birmingham and H J Kitchens of Acworth.

Additional Comments:
Howell W Kitchens is the son of James T Kitchens and Jane Hill, born July 4 1853
in Alabama.  He married Sarah California Rainey, and their known children were
Carrie Olena (Mrs Walter Nichols), Ella J (Mrs Charles C Gribble), Lillie E (Mrs
Houston B Terry), Norman Smith, Irene (Mrs William D Chastain), Lola (Mrs James
D Rainey), Nellie Mae (Mrs William Arthur Nichols), Howell Judson, and Vivian
Katherine (Mrs Robert H Green).  He, his wife, and a number of their children
are buried at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Acworth.
