The Marietta Journal, November 9, 1893
Mrs Mary H LAWHON died at the residence of her son-in-law, Mr C L WILLIAMS, at
Tunnell Hill, Ga., on Sunday morning the 5th inst., after an illness of several
weeks, and was buried the 6th inst. at Mars Hill, near Acworth.  Her funeral was
preached at the Presbyterian Church, Acworth, by Rev R P BAIRD.  She had lived a
year or two at Tunnell Hill, but previous to that Cobb county had been her home,
since 1845.  She was near 74 years of age, and she and the venerable husband who
survives her were married 56 years ago.  Thus have they travelled together
through the joys and sorrows of life for more than half a century.  She was a
most devout Christian, a loving wife and mother, and a faithful friend, and
probably no one ever came nearer numbering their entire circle of acquaintances
as personal friends.  Besides the aged husband, she leaves four children to
treasure the memory of a most tender affection bestowed by her during her long
and well spent life.  Her children are Mr R E LAWHON of Marietta, Ga., Mrs J H
ANSLEY of Birmingham, Ala., Mrs E B LOGAN of Acworth, Ga., and Mrs L H WILLIAMS
of Tunnell Hill, Ga., and a number of grand children and great-grand children.
