He was in the yard when stricken down by the last of foes, death. Mr MEEK had eaten a hearty dinner, and had gone out and was watering his horse, preparing for work, when one of his little boys saw him fall, ran to him calling his mother, and every effort available was made to restore him, but to no purpose. He only breathed a few times after his wife reached his side. Mr MEEK was born in Cobb county, near Marietta, on July 28, 1842. He served as a Confederate soldier in Phillips' Legion; was wounded in the right arm, having nearly lost the use of it. He was a courteous and obliging neighbor, kind and considerate husband and father. Had been a member of the Baptist church 25 years. He leaves a wife and eight children, four at home. He was interred at Midway cemetery on Monday, the 5th. The community deeply sympathise with the sorrowing family in this their hour of grief.
