DEATH OF MRS MONTGOMERY

Our citizens were inexpressibly shocked on Friday morning last, when the sad
intelligence was conveyed to them of the sudden death of Mrs Anna TOWERS
MONTGOMERY, wife of Capt W R MONTGOMERY, which occurred at the family residence,
on Cherokee street, on last Thursday night about 10:30 o'clock.

Mrs MONTGOMERY was not feeling well about 5 o'clock, and a physician was called
in, who gave her treatment.  She retired, feeling better.  Her niece, Miss Mary
Dean TOWERS, remained with her and occupied the same bed, that she might be
ready to minister to her if it became necessary.  About 10 o'clock she was
awakened by the hard breathing of Mrs MONTGOMERY.  She spoke to her and found
she was unconscious.  She hurriedly dressed and ran  up to Mr George
MONTGOMERY's residence and notified him, and Dr REYNOLDS was sent for, but when
he arrived she had passed to the great beyond.  

Neuralgia of the heart was the cause of her demise.

She was the daughter of the late Col J R TOWERS.  It was Saturday before last
that she followed her mother's remains to their last resting place, in the city
cemetery.  

She was one of the most loveable women in Marietta, a devout member of the
Baptist church, and a model wife, and her sad death carries sorrow to the hearts
of all who knew her.

The funeral took place Saturday morning at 10:30 o'clock, at the family
residence.  Dr C E W DOBBS officiated, assisted by Dr J H PATTON.

The remains were place to rest in the city cemetery.

We deeply sympathize with the bereaved family.
