The Marietta Journal, February 4, 1897
DIED - Death has shrouded another happy home in gloom in Marietta.  Mrs Victoria
NORTHCUTT, the beloved wife of Mr Charley S NORTHCUTT, died on last Sunday night
in this place of pneumonia, aged 45 years.  She had been sick but a short while
when death came and stilled forever her heart.  She was the daughter of Mr M A
MAYES, a prosperous farmer of this county.  She leaves a husband, three
daughters, Misses Lena, Era and Nellie, and two sons, Mace and Charley; also a
father, Mr M A MAYES, five sisters, Mrs Maggie MORRIS, Mrs M P MORRIS, of
Roswell, Mrs J T MATHIS of Fort Smith, Ark., Mrs Robert CHANDLER, and Mrs Will M
GOBER, and two brothers, Newton A MAYES and Charley MAYES.  She had been a
consistent member of the Presbyterian church for the past twenty years.  Her
death is a sad blow to those devoted loved ones.  Her funeral took place on
Tuesday morning, at the Presbyterian Church, Rev J H PATTON officiating.  We
tender our sincere sympathy to the bereaved family.
