The Marietta Journal and Courier, September 24 1915
Mrs Nettie COLE NORTHCUTT, niece of the late Mr Henry G COLE, died in this City
on Wednesday, Sept. 15th.

Mrs NORTHCUTT was born in 1838, in South New Berlin, New York and was educated
at Hamilton College.

She visited her uncles home in Marietta, in days before the war and made many
life-long friends here.  She could relate interesting experiences of her trip
"through the lines" on her return to her home in New York, in the early sixties.  

In later years when visiting Marietta, she became acquainted with Mr Luke S
MORTHCUTT, whom she afterwards married in New York.  Returning to Marietta, with
her husband, whom she survived many years she renewed old friendships and
acquired new ones.

She was a person of strong character and conscientious principles and was
well-beloved by her friends as was attested by their presence at the funeral and
by the beautiful flowers that they sent.

After the funeral services, conducted by Rev R R CLAIBORNE, Mrs NORTHCUTT's
remains were accompanied by her cousin, Mr D C COLE, to her old home in South
New Berlin that he might comply with her request to be interred by her mother's
side in the old cemetery where four generations of the family are buried.
