Pitner died at his father's residence on Church Street last Sunday morning, aged 28 years. He had been in failing health for many months, and his death therefore was not altogether unexpected. He was the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. James Pitner, and at one time was associated with Mr. A. Y. Leake, his brother-in-law, in the mercantile business, and was a most capable, faithful and energetic young business man. Polite, gentlemanly and moral, he numbered his friends by the score. He was a member of the Hook and Ladder Company, and when in health, took an active interest in the efficiency and success of the company. All who knew him speak in his praise. His death is deeply regretted by our people. His funeral took place at the family residence last Monday afternoon after which his remains were interred in the cemetery. Our sympathy is extended to the bereaved family in their sore affliction.
