The Marietta Journal  November 3, 1898
DIED - Mr D B PARKS Sr died in this place on last Friday afternoon, aged 69
years.  He was an old citizen, and well known to most of our people.  In the war
between the states he was in the Seventh Georgia Regiment, and was wounded in
the battle of Manassas.  He had been a member of the Methodist church about
forty years.  His funeral was conducted by Rev J W QUILLIAN on Saturday morning.
 The burial took place in the city cemetery.  After life's fitful fever, he
sleeps well.  Our sympathy is extended to the bereaved relatives.
