Cobb County Times  March 13, 1919
The funeral services of Col W R POWER, one of the most prominent citizens of
Marietta and Cobb county, who died March 6th at a hospital in Atlanta, were
conducted from the Marietta Methodist church Friday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock.

Drs W T HAMBY, of the church, and J P ERWIN read the services, and Dr GLENN of
Atlanta preached the funeral sermon.

The pall-bearers were Messrs A A BISHOP, W A BISHOP, J M AUSTIN, W R POWER,
Judge J M GANN and Judge John STOWE.

The Masons, of which Col POWER was one of the honored members, had charge of the
services at the cemetery, the Knights Templars, under Mr Len C BALDWIN, Eminent
Commander, forming honorary escort.  The Blue Lodge of Masons, under Mr J J
DANIELL, Worshipful Master, also assisted in the impressive services.

Interment was in the Marietta Cemetery.

Mr POWER was born near Roswell in 1850 and reared in Cobb county, moving to
Marietta about forty years ago.  He was a graduate of the University of Georgia,
and has practiced law since his graduation.

Thirty-nine years ago he was married to Miss Clara PEARCE of Marietta, and she
and one son, Mr Pearce POWER, survive him.

Col POWER always took the greatest interest in educational matters, and for many
years was county school commissioner.  At the time of his death, he was a member
of the city school board.

Col POWER was a life-long member of the Methodist church and was one of the most
valued workers, both in church and in the Sunday school.
