H. Humphries' store on Church street, suddenly became paralyzed in his arm. He seated himself in a chair and the pain continued down his side and leg. He was carried to his room in rear of Mr. Sloan Thompson's shoe shop, and Dr. Nolan was sent for and did what he could for him. He soon became unconscious and in little over an hour he died. He had worked all day, but several days before had complained of severe pains in his head. He was jovial all through the day and there was no suspicion that death was so near. Mr. Swan was born and raised in Marietta and was about 53 years of age. He was a shoemaker and was in the employ of Mr. Sloan Thompson. He was years ago city marshal and subsequently he was on the police force of Atlanta. He leaves five daughters, three of whom are married. His wife is dead. His burial took place on Tuesday afternoon at city cemetery. Dr. Wadsworth conducted the funeral services.
