The body was removed to Brumby's Chapel in Marietta on Friday afternoon; and the funeral services were conducted by Dr J H PATTON and Dr Rembert SMITH, at the Presbyterian Church at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon. The interment was in the City Cemetery, the pall-bearers being Dr C T NOLAN, Judge J M STONE, Col W R POWERS, and Messrs George D ANDERSON, James H GROVES, and Lawrence HUNT. He is survived by a brother, Mr Lewis TENNANT, of Oklahoma, and a step-daughter, Mrs D T WARD of Franklinton, N C. Dr TENNANT came to Marietta from South Carolina, nearly half a century ago to practice medicine. He was a highly educated man, and a gifted physician; and always patient, kind, and gentle in the sick-room. He had been a skillful and efficient surgeon in the Confederate Army. His parents died in his early youth, and he had reared and educated his younger brothers. He also reared an orphaned nephew in later years, and many other stories are told of his kindness and generosity. He was of distinguished ancestry, being a descendant of that Gilbert TENNANT who founded Princeton University; and of other famous physicians and jurists. Dr TENNANT was married to Mrs OGDEN, a widow from Kentucky, in 1882, who died some years ago. Many devoted friends mourn the death of this good man.
