Major West of Marietta Shot Dead by His Brother in Mississippi

Jackson, Miss., December 3 – Reports of a fearful homicide committed this 
morning near Brownsville in this county, reaches here Major J.A. West of 
Marietta, Ga., was shot three times with a pistol and after being down shot in 
the head with a shotgun and immediately killed by his brother Hugh West.  It 
appears that Major West arrived from Georgia a few days since to have a 
settlement with his brother who had rented the farm of the Georgia man for 
some years, and that the killing grew out of the settlement.
