Spratlin-Delk

A pretty home wedding of Monday evening at half after 7 o'clock was that of 
Miss Sarah Floy Spratlin to Mr. James E. Delk at the home of the bride's 
parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Spratlin, in West End.

The apartments open to guest were artistic in the decorations of smilax 
entwined with white tulle and with vases of white roses.

The bridal party entered the drawing room to the music of Mendelssohn's march, 
and the ceremony was performed by Dr. Walker of the West End Presbyterian 
church.

The bride wore a gown of cream satin with yoke and sleeves of lace, and her 
tulle veil was caught with orange blossoms.  She carried white roses.

The maid of honor, Miss Martha Spratlin, wore a pale green crepe de chine gown, 
and her flowers were white roses also.

The four bridesmaids, Miss Maude Daniel, Miss Corinne Tiller, Miss Claudia 
Burton and Miss Judith Rayle, wore gowns of cream silk voile and carried pink 
roses.

The groom's best man was Mr. J. A. Riviere.

The young couple left immediately after the ceremony for a wedding trip.  The 
bride wore a tailored gown of dark green cloth and a large black hat.


Additional Comments:
 
James was the son of James Buchanan "Buck" Delk and Virginia F. 
Royland/Rowland.  He was raised in Marietta, Cobb Co., Georgia.

Sadly, Sarah died October 15, 1913 and is buried at Marietta City Cemetery 
(aka: Citizen's) in Marietta, Cobb Co., Georgia.

James married 2nd to Avice Elgin on June 27, 1916 in Marietta, Cobb Co., Georgia
