Atkinson County Citizen - April 23, 2015
  Mrs. Lastinger was born on October 26, 1917, in Pearson, GA to the late Thomas 
McCall Smith and Mary Corbitt Smith.
 Survivors include her three daughters, Jackie Wilson of Douglas, Tommie (Carrol) 
Dukes of Bogart, GA, and Theresa Jeanette (Jan) Lastinger of Douglas; two sons, 
Danny L. (Rose) Lastinger of Perry, and Sammy (Mary) Lastinger of Douglas; 
seventeen grandchildren; thirty six great grandchildren; five great-great-
grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by 
her husband, Seaborn B. Lastinger and a brother, Thomas Smith.
 Funeral services were held on Friday, April 17, 2015, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist 
Church with Rev. Shep Johnson officiating. Music was furnished for the service by 
Terri Bailey “Serenaded by Angels,” Gayland Collins “Go Rest High on That 
Mountain,” and congregation “Amazing Grace” with Marsha Gilliard playing the 
piano. 
 Active pallbearers were grandsons.
 Honorary pallbearers were Deacons of First Baptist Church and Sunday School 
members.
 Interment followed at Satilla Memorial Gardens.
 Sims Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
