Sims Funeral Home - June 9, 2012
 Mrs. Venita Harper Latham Luke of Route 1, Ambrose, GA, passed away Saturday, J
June 9, 2012, at Shady Acres Health and Rehabilitation after an extended i
illness. Mrs. Luke was born April 3, 1932 to the late Melvin Harper, Sr. and E
Eliza Young Harper of Ambrose. Mrs. Luke enjoyed cooking, gardening and n
needlework. She was of the Baptist faith, a member of the Satilla Sisters and a m
member of Satilla Baptist Church since 1950.
 In addition to her parents, Mrs. Luke was preceded in death by her first 
husband of thirteen years, Mr. Louis James Latham of Holt, GA, her second 
husband, Mr. Oswald Luke of Ambrose; two sisters, Ms. Shirley Harper of Ambrose 
and Ms. Barbara Jean Brantley of Douglas; and one brother, the infant son of 
Melvin Harper, Sr. and Eliza Young Harper. Mrs. Luke is survived by brother, 
Mr. Melvin Harper, Jr. and wife, Martha of Waycross; three sons, Randall Latham 
and wife Deborah of Ambrose, Joel Latham and wife Jo Beth of Holt, and Marcus 
J. Latham and wife, Althea of Douglas; eleven grandchildren; seven great gr
grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
 Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2012 at Satilla B
Baptist Church with Rev. William Pope officiating. Interment to followed at H
Holt Baptist Church Cemetery.
 Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
