Jimmy Merritt Obituary
Jimmy Merritt, age 69, of Carlyss Louisiana, formerly of Douglas GA passed away 
on Tuesday, March 02, 2010, at his home after an extended illness. Mr. Merritt, 
a native of Coffee County, was born January 23, 1941: he is the son of Lota 
Harrell Merritt & the late Homer Merritt. He graduated from Coffee County High 
School & spent most of his life in the newspaper business. Funeral services will 
be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 06, 2010, at the Sims Funeral Home Chapel. 
Burial will follow in the Rocky Pond Church Cemetery near Douglas GA. The family 
will receive friends on Friday at Sims Funeral Home; calling hours are 6:00 PM 
until 9:00 PM. Survivors include: Wife of 50 years, Peggy Carter Merritt; Son, 
James Timothy (Ronda Tower) Merritt, Pineville LA, Daughters, Cynthia Merritt ( 
Randall Keith) Ziegler , Carlyss LA, Sheri Merritt (Bobby Dale) Boulet, Douglas 
GA, Five Grandchildren; Jacob Ryan Ziegler, D'Ann Merritt Bryant, Cherish Denise 
Boulet, Ethan Hunter Boulet, Whitney Leigh Merritt, Two Great-grandchildren; 
Brooklyn Elaine Ziegler & Kinsley Merritt Bryant.; Three siblings; Jerry 
Merritt, Brooksville FL, Larry Homer Merritt, Douglas GA & Linda Merritt 
McKinnon, Beaumont TX, nieces & nephews. Sims Funeral Home is in charge of 
arrangements.
