McGovern died Thursday, Dec. 9, 1982, at Nassau General Hospital following a brief illness. Born July 15, 1905, in Dodge Co., GA., to the late John Mose and Julia Sewell Conley. She was the widow of the late Thomas Jefferson "Buddy" McGovern. She had been a resident of Bibb Co. for 23 years. Funeral services were held at Reedy Branch Baptist Church on Saturday, Dec. 11. Interment followed in the Reedy Branch Cemetery. Rev. Charles A. Oswalt of Bethel Assembly of God, Melbourn, Fla. officiated, assisted by Rev. Wayne Hutcheson, pastor of Reedy Branch Baptist Church. Survivors include 4 daughters, Lola Music, and Lucy Jones, both of Fernandina Beach, Fla., Estelle Boone and Joyce Austin of Macon, GA.; one step-daughter, Ms. Anna Laura Geiger, of Tampa; 3 step-sons, Lonnie McGovern, and Hubert McGovern of Steinhatchee, Fla., and Willie McGovern of High Falls, GA.; 2 sisters, Viola Mathis of Tifton, Ga., and Trudy Towe, of Macon; 1 brother, John Mose Conley, Jr., of Eastman, 8 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews. Special music was rendered by Paul Hutcheson, Willard Jones and Carlos Grantham, accompanied by Lois Mills, pianist. Honary pallbearers were: Ernest Jones, Homer Johnson, Estelle Music, A.L. Jones, Ray Jowers, John Kirkland and Bobby Hulett. Active pallbearers were: Larry Music, Steve Music, Charles A. Boone, Daiel Boone, Vance Johnson, and Johnny Johnson. Sims Funeral Home was in charge of arrangments.
