Allen Haskins, a Primitive Baptist preacher, 55 years old, was killed at his home at Leliation last night about 8 o’clock while lying in his bed asleep by being shot with a shotgun. An investigation by the sheriff’s office today disclosed that at the time of the killing Rev. Mr. Haskins and a small child about four years old were sleeping in one bed together, while his wife and two other children, about 9 and 13 years, respectively, were sleeping in another room. His wife and children claim not to have known anything about the tragedy and did not hear the report of the gun. A coroner’s jury returned a verdict that the deceased came to his death by a shotgun wound fired from the hands of an unknown person.
