Daily Enquirer-Sun, Columbus GA, Wens. 14 Mar 1883
"Rev. Joseph E. Tooke, an old and honored minister of the Methodist Episcopal 
church, aged 69 years, residing at Pearson, died on last Wednesday of dropsy, 
after an illness of two years.  He was one of the oldest and most venerated 
citizens of Coffee County, and the Gazette appears in the habilaments of 
mourning on the account of the deceased"

The Daily Enquirer Sun was reporting was had been reported in the Washington 
Gazette.
