James Erwin Spivey Co. E,26th GA INF is the oldest of the brothers, he had the most colorful career of all. He is pictured here with his nieces and nephew. He was wounded several times and was in the thick of the fighting and surrended with Gen. Lee at Appomattox,VA. He also became a Baptist minister after the war. He and John David Spivey moved from Coffee Co.,GA to Pasco Co.,FL about 1875 and brought their wives and John brought his children ( James Erwin never had any children). They farmed , sold timber, etc. James died in 1911 and is buried at Lake Carroll cemetery in Tampa ,FL ( I installed a V.A. veterans marker for him in 1999) Additional Comments: The 4 Spivey brothers are from Coffee Co.GA. Daniel Patrick Spivey, James Erwin Spivey, John David Spivey & Matthew Spivey. John David Spivey is my GG Grandfather and the other 3 are my GG Uncles. They were all born in Coffee Co., GA to John A.
