Because on occasion both men lived in the same county at the same time, and not always using the designation senior or junior, distinguishing between them in some records has been difficult. I invite additions, commentary, questions and corrections when they can be supported by appropriate documentation. 1793 Montgomery Co., GA Formed from Washington Co., GA 1784-1816 Early Settlers Montgomery Co., GA : DWYER Henry TUCKER named in loose documents and Land indexes; Henry TUCKER had land on Little Ogeechee River; 1796 Jefferson Co., GA Formed from Burke & Warren Co.'s, GA 1797& 1798 Montgomery Co., GA Some Early Tax Digests of GA: BLAIR Henry C. Family Legends: (1) Henry Crawford TUCKER went with the Army on the infamous Trail of Tears. He returned with a Cherokee wife and for that, he was ostracized by the community. He and his wife had to leave the community (wherever that community was located). For his service, Henry was given three thousand acres of land. That, too, he had to leave behind. The Cherokee lady's name was Dorothy WATSON. FRAN'S NOTE: My GrGrandmother was Margaret (Peggy) WATSON. She and Henry Crawford TUCKER were married Thomas Co., GA 1842. Margaret was born ca 1822 and died some time in 1856 or before February 1857. For these reasons, I discount part of the family legend. However, the present owner [1990] of the TUCKER farm in Colquitt Co., GA tells that at one time the farm consisted of more than two thousand acres. MORE RESEARCH NEEDED.
